Frequently Asked Questions

Any Questions?

Working in partnership with parents, our door is always open

Our open door policy means we are delighted to talk with parents at any time and always work hard to keep you informed of your child's progress. In fact we encourage parents to be involved at every stage of their child's education, believing a positive dialogue between home and school can only benefit your child.

You can learn more about the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 at our curriculum evening in September. We hold Parents' Evenings in November and February.

When can my child start at Walhampton?

They can join at the start of the term or half term after they have turned two.

How many sessions can they attend?

For the youngest children in Nursery, we offer two morning sessions. In Kindergarten we offer a minimum of five sessions.

How long is a session?

Our doors open at 8.00am and all children should be here by 8.30am. The morning session finishes at 12pm.

When can my child attend afternoon sessions?

As soon as your child turns three they can stay for the afternoon following a morning session.

Is there a uniform?

In Nursery and Kindergarten we like children to wear a pale blue polo shirt with a dark blue Walhampton tracksuit. They'll also need a waterproof coat, wellington boots and non-marking plimsolls. Only from Reception year onwards do children wear the full school uniform.

How many children are in the Kindergarten classes?

We work to the government ratio of one adult to eight children.

Do you provide Learning Support?

Yes. If your child requires additional support our class teachers liaise with the Head of the LSU. After an in-depth assessment, an individual learning programme is put in place which will target the needs of the child. LSU lessons are provided at an additional cost.
